Florence's energy

While most of my photos of Florence exclude people, my life here certainly does not. On a walk the other day, I stood up at the Piazzale Michelangiolo and looked down on my beloved city. I can certainly appreciate its beauty and try to capture it in a photo, but I can’t share the true feelings I have for the city and its inhabitants. The city is filled with beauty: palazzi (buildings), chiese (churches), piazze, and monuments. I believe that I would still find the city beautiful because of the energy it conveys.

The city has an energy about it that doesn’t compare to any other place I have been to. I almost find it difficult to leave Florence because all the feelings I have are so great that I can’t part with them. Or rather that I don't want to part with. I feel that the energy is intense here. You can't be here and not feel it. For some it may be overwhelming and for others, like me, it feels perfect.

The fiorentini (Florentines) have also added so much to my life here. They have inspired me to be true to myself and to follow my heart. Sincerity is one of the greatest gifts they have showed me. They are not only examples of this, but they encourage me to be as sincere as possible. I see how they value those who are different and value me because I am different as well. It is a gift to know that I don’t have to be like them to fit in; they appreciate me for who I am.

I am thankful to have stumbled my way to Florence where its beauty sparks so much joy and love within me. I am thankful to the city and the fiorentini who have allowed me the opportunity to blossom. I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else in the world. Not because there’s no other city as beautiful, but because there is no other city that fills me with so much love.
