More than a new chapter

With the many small changes I made in my life over the last year and a half, I made only one significant one that everyone noticed. Many of my friends said that I ended a chapter and am starting a new one, but for me, I feel as if I have ended one book of my life and am starting an entirely new one. As a part of my new life, I have decided to travel more, see more of Italy and the world, enjoy each day I wake up to, and embrace new experiences.

Living in Florence :: More than a new chapter

Even though I travel a lot for work, I travel very little for pleasure. Even a day trip to the beach would be a treat for me and yet I rarely ever do it. Now, however, I am making new choices for myself.

On Saturday morning, I boarded the Frecciarossa at 6:30am and headed to Milan. When I arrived at the train station, I took a bus to the Bergamo airport to meet a friend. Our plan was to go to Lago Maggiore together. I had never been and was excited to visit it.

It is incredibly stimulating for me to visit a new location, surround myself in a new environment, and make a few discoveries.

After we arrived at Lago Maggiore, we drove and walked around the towns bordering the lago (lake). On Sunday, we took a boat to visit Isola Bella and Isola dei Pescatori. We ate wonderful food, enjoyed the weather, and spent time just looking out at the view. We only stayed three days and then parted ways yesterday.

On my train ride back to Florence, I was exhausted, but felt that my first trip of my new life was absolutely perfect. It was just enough time to get a taste of a new location, enjoy everything I could, and relax all at the same time.

I have a few more trips that I’d like to take, but I will see how my plans unfold. I don’t like planning too much in advance because I never know what I will feel like doing or what will happen. Things in my life seem to still be shifting rapidly and changes (incredibly good ones) are constantly occurring.
