Dinner with friends from Florence

Today it was a bit cold and rainy in Paris when we woke up. It felt like we were back in Florence as the mild weather we were welcomed with had simply evaporated. I made plans before we left Florence to meet up with Steve and Susan who lived in Florence last year until they moved to Paris.

Living in Florence :: Dinner with friends from Florence

We used to go out to eat together while they were living in Florence, and even watched the finals of the World Cup in Piazza SS. Annunziata last year. I surfed the Internet for a restaurant and chose Ze Kitchen Gallery.

Because it was raining and we didn't bring an umbrella, we took the métro a few stops to Hôtel de Ville and walked past Notre Dame in the rain. We walked along the quais de Seine past the bouquinistes (booksellers along the quai) to the restaurant. The restaurant serves fusion cuisine with a Southeast Asian influence.

We arrived a little early, so they seated us before our friends arrived. They offered two tables to me, but I asked for a third one next to the kitchen so I could watch them cook. I was surprised how small the kitchen was considering the number of people working in the kitchen. I think I counted about 6, plus the head chef.

I ordered the lamb with Thai curry and it was delicious. The flavors truly burst in my mouth. For dessert, I ordered white chocolate ice cream with a wasabe sauce and a pepper emulsion. I wanted to try something a little different, and it was also incredibly flavorful.

It stopped raining, so we walked back pretty much the way we woud've walked to the restaurant had it not been raining. Along the quais, past Notre Dame, next to Pompidou Center, and back to our area.

The weather was still quite chilly, but at least it wasn't raining. We're hoping the weather clears up a little, but as long as it doesn't rain too much, I'm sure we'll enjoy our time here.
