Lagging jet lag

The weather was cool and sunny in Florence this weekend. Cool being any place the sun didn't shine. We were planning on going out a bit, but our afternoon naps to recover from jet lag turned into half a night's sleep!

We've been trying to go to bed around 1AM so that we don't wake up at 4AM, but instead we wake up at 7AM and can't get back to sleep. We keep ourselves occupied, have breakfast/lunch, and then go back to sleep. That takes us to about dinner time, so then we eat, work/play, and then go to sleep. It seems that each day starts the same way. We know we'll eventually recover from jet lag, but it's not happening as fast as we'd like.

Although last year when we arrived, it took us at least a week to get adjusted again. I don't know how tourists do it when they come here for a short period of time. I couldn't do it! I know I have in the past, but I don't think I could do it now. I think what's not helping us is that we're staying in doors a lot. So much so that I decided to water the plants on the terrace this afternoon just to get some sun!

The only upside to jet lag is my ability to read a lot in bed without falling asleep within an hour! I've already finished one book (only 34 more to go!) and am in the middle of two others.

So, my fingers are crossed tonight as we go to sleep at 2AM today. I just hope to make it to 8AM!
