Shopping at Le Cascine

After going to the Questura to pick up our permessi di soggiorno, we decided to hop on the bus and go to Le Cascine for the once a week outdoor market where you can buy everything from clothes and kitchenware items to fabrics and pets. It's one of these places where cash is king. And when you come, be ready to buy. You can buy absolutely anything here and usually at a lower price than at any shop in town. Although I haven't done any price comparisons, it always feels like a bargain.

I thought we didn't wake up early enough to come to Le Cascine, but I finally read in Firenze Spettacolo that it closes at 2PM. I bought items for the house, like a magazine rack and a sofa cover, as well as clothes, like t-shirts and sweatpants. Dave bought a headband to cover his ears. He says it's not as cold in Colorado...I think it's just the humidity that is different because the temperature

We started at one end and two hours later were at the far end overloaded with bags. The bus to come back to town was nearby, so we hopped on and made our way home. Exhausted and starving, next time we'll buy a panino (sandwich) while we're at Le Cascine.
