We arrived in Los Angeles on Friday afternoon. Dave got the directions off of the Internet and we drove straight to our hotel in Universal City. The last time we were here, about two years ago, we stayed in West Hollywood.
I'm so happy to be able to see my sister and brother as well as a few of my friends who have moved to Los Angeles recently. While living in Italy, we contact each other by email and by phone, but it's just not the same as seeing people face-to-face.
Today, Dave and I walked through City Walk at Universal Studios, which is an open area for restaurants and shops. We probably won't be going to Universal Studios for a visit since we did that a few years go.
We were hoping to see Dr. Phil and Jay Leno, but I couldn't get tickets early enough. Although my friend Diahann, who lives in LA, said that she just saw Dr. Phil the other day.
The weather is nice and warm in LA although I've been keeping track of the weather in Florence and it seems to be quite nice as well.
Italy seems so far away to me as we drive on four-lane highways, walk on sidewalks that are about ten feet wide, shop in large supermarkets and stores, and talk/listen in English. I haven't heard any Italian since we left San Francisco!
